All HR practices have an ethical foundation. HR deals with the practical consequences of human behavior’. The core concern of business – proponents of the market economy argue is in attempting to secure the best possible return on any investment. Any dilution of this focus will lead to the corruption of what is a finely balanced system. Businesses that seek to be ‘ethical’ as well as profitable will probably fail economically, following which the whole community may suffer. workplaces are filled with managers and supervisors who use their position and power to mistreat or disrespect others. Unfortunately, unless the situation you're in involves race, gender or ethnic origin, there is often no legal protection against abusive behavior in the workplace.

Employee fraud is also on the uptick, whether its check tampering, not recording sales in order to skim, or manipulating expense reimbursements.

In an organization acting ethically, employees can realize positive benefits and improved business outcomes. The perception of ethical behavior can increase employee performance, job satisfaction, organizational commitment, trust and organizational citizenship behaviors.

  1. Author has described the workplace ethical behaviors & how to encourage good ethics in a workplace. Apart from above I believe that if organization can create a code of conduct & given training on the same with obtaining in writing adherence to the code of conduct policy will reduce the headache to HR. Also, during the selection process, organization can think on hire a person with human values. Overall, the article is worth to read.
